Away from the city, but Still in the City
Katherine and Shawn were so brave to have their elopement wedding during the pandemic. They decided to share their love for each other despite the challenging times of Covid-19. Away from the city, but still in the city, they celebrated their special day in Central Park, New York. It was an intimate gathering with their closest friends surrounded by nature and skyscrapers. Their parents watched the ceremony from a distance through FaceTime and didn’t miss a single moment.
Flow of the Wedding Day
It was a bright and sunny day on August 22, 2020 when I arrived at Bethesda Terrace around 10 AM with my sister who was my assistant for the day. I scouted the area as it was my first time in Central Park despite living in New York for over 20 years. We started the wedding day with Shawn’s portraits as Katherine was going to arrive little later. I wanted to mimic some of the shots from a traditional wedding day with getting ready shots. Shawn was super friendly and warmed up to the camera very quickly even though it was our first interaction.
When Katherine arrived, we wanted to make sure Shawn didn’t get a single peak as we wanted to capture that for the first look moment. I could see the excitement on Shawn’s face, it was beautiful. After the first look, I wanted to capture their portraits at Bethesda Terrace as the crowd was increasing. After the couple portraits, we made our way to Shakespeare Garden for the ceremony. We were greeted by their friends and it was a nice moment. Beautiful big trees added a nice backdrop for the wedding ceremony where Katherine and Shawn stood to exchange their vows.
It was an absolute pleasure working with Katherine and Shawn. I thank Katherine for allowing me the opportunity to document her Big Day! Hope you enjoy the key highlights of the day!
